A Swaggie by Mix.

Logging a swaggie on Geocaching Australia is a bit clunky at the moment, but we are working on improving it.

If you are a registered with Geocaching Australia

  • Log in to Geocaching Australia. The best way to do this is tick the "log me in automatically" box so that you are logged in any time you are viewing the website/forum.
  • Go to the page of the geocache that contained/s the swaggie you wish to log (type that caches waypoint code into the Search box). This applies to caches listed on geocaching.com as well as GCA caches.
  • If it says that you are not signed in or don't have a cacher name, then follow these instructions to get a cacher name.

If you are not registered with Geocaching Australia or for International geocaches

  • Navigate to the swaggie listing page. You can do this by entering the swaggies name or code number (nickname) into the search box at the top of the Geocaching Australia website and scrolling down to the swaggie section, or by selecting the "Swaggie" tab at the top of the Geocaching Australia website and entering the swaggie code number (nickname) into the search box on that page.

Once you have found the swaggie you wish to log use the one of the following options, which are listed under the "Actions" menu on the right of the screen.

Spotting a swaggie

"Spot this swaggie" lets you log that you have seen the swaggie in the wild, but are not moving it on.

  • Click on "Spot this swaggie"
  • Enter the swaggie's password (this should be attached to the swaggie)
  • Fill in the details of your find (date, log, etc) and press "Spotted"

Grabbing a swaggie

"Grab this swaggie" lets you log that you have picked up this swaggie, and it is in your possession. If you are logged in to Geocaching Australia this adds the swaggie to your inventory (you MUST grab a swaggie and have it in your inventory before you can drop it in to a cache). If you are not logged in this lets others know you have taken the swaggie.

  • Click on "Grab this Swaggie"
  • Enter the swaggie's password (this should be attached to the swaggie)
  • Fill in the details of your find (date, log, etc) and press "Grab"

Dropping a swaggie

"Drop this swaggie" lets you log that you have dropped this swaggie off in a geocache. If you are logged in to Geocaching Australia this removes the swaggie from your inventory. If you are not logged in this lets others know where the swaggie has been dropped off.

  • Click on "Drop a swaggie"
  • Fill in the details of your drop (date, log, etc)
  • If you are logged in -select the correct swaggie from the 'Swaggie' box and press "Drop"
  • If you are not logged in -enter the swaggie's password (this should be attached to the swaggie) and press "Drop"

Leaving a note

"Leave a note" lets you leave a note on the swaggie log page.

  • Click on "Drop a swaggie"
  • Fill in the details of your find (date, log, etc) and press "Save Note"
