Geocaching in Newcastle and the Hunter Area has as long a history as in just about any other area of Australia but growth in the sport was much slower than in the rest of the country. This has changed recently with strong growth in the number of Geocachers and Geocaches.
Recently some local cachers have gotten organised and formed HAVOC:Hunter Geocachers
