Phone a friend
From GeoWiki
Some geocachers like to phone a friend (calling another geocacher or the cache owner) when they can't find the cache container at GZ, to avoid a return trip and/or logging a DNF. It can also be useful if you suspect the cache container has been muggled or is otherwise missing or destroyed.
Some geocachers have published their mobile phone numbers on the Geocaching Australia Forum.
It is up to the individual to decide whether they think it is fair play to phone a friend or use other assistance to find caches. One of the beauties of geocaching is that the everyone can play it their own way.
Other means of assistance are:
- Decrypting the cache hint
- Reading previous logs
