Special Characters

If you want to enter non-alpha numeric symbols that aren't on your keyboard in a cache listing or a forum post, such as the degree symbol ° you can do so if you know the ASCII Code for the character you are after you can hold down the Alt key on the keyboard and type the code on the number pad (not the numbers above the letters on the keyboard).

Now the table listed in this link has an issue in that to get the symbol for the degree symbol you need to put in a leading zero then the code 176. So if you hold down the Alt key and the type 0176 on the number pad you get this symbol: °

Note that the character appears when you release the Alt key,
