This page contains information specific to Geocaching Australia.
Geocaching Australia can record your own cache recommendations for others to see. A cache you own and are recommending is called a Hiders Choice cache. You are allowed to recommend in a ratio of 1 Hiders Choice to 10 hides (1:10) with a minimum number of 5.

Declaring a Hiders Choice cache allows other cachers to see what caches you have hidden that you felt were worthwhile. It can be useful for visiting cachers to plan a day out or for local cachers to see what quality is in the local area.

A Hiders Choice does not indicate WHY a cacher recommended that cache, lest to say that you are declaring a Hiders Choice cache because the hider thinks it is outstanding.

It could be because:

  • A particularly cunning hide
  • A great place to visit
  • An ingenious container
  • Quality of the swaps
  • Or, something else entirely.

To declare a Hiders Choice cache

  • Go the the cache page of the cache you wish to declare Hiders Choice on.
  • Click on the "Hiders Choice" action on the right hand side.

Declaring Hiders Choice on others caches

You cannot declare Hiders Choice on any one else's cache, but you can declare it a Recommended cache or give it a Rating.
