Geocaching Australia
This page contains information specific to Geocaching Australia.

A cache may have a number of potential status settings.

Draft

When creating or editing a cache description and details, the cache status will be in draft. The cache will not be available or displayed to any members while the status is set to draft.

Future

Use the future status to plan a hide for a date in the future. This requires the hidden date to be set. On or around 00:00:01 AEST (GCA time) on the future date, the cache status will automatically be set to available. Until this occurs the cache will not be available or displayed to any members while the status is set to future.
Please note: that if you leave the hidden date as "today" or a date in the past, your cache will not be made available until 00:00:01 the NEXT morning.

Available

Caches marked as available are ready to be found. If you have previously set your status to future, this status will be automatically updated at 00:00:01 on the hidden date.

Unavailable

A cache is marked as unavailable when it is temporarily unavailable. This may be due to maintenance issues or possible muggling. It indicates to seekers that the cache may be in need of repair or no longer there and to not look for it for the time being.

Archived

Archived caches were previously listed caches that no longer listed. Reasons for archiving caches include:

  • The cache container has disappeared or been repeatedly muggled
  • The event to which the cache listing relates has passed
  • The owner has for some reason withdrawn the cache, perhaps they have moved away and are unable to maintain the cache
